Modern Nutrition

There is an abundance of information available in the world today (more than ever before in history) about how to nourish yourself. It is very exciting to be able to access so much knowledge, but at times it can become overwhelming.

What’s Right for Me?

Questions arise as to which scientific study should I believe (as they are often contradictory), which expert should I follow (as experts often disagree), what’s right for me (which may or may not be what anyone else in the universe needs) and how can I find the time in my busy life to attend to these things.

Great Guidelines

Generally speaking, a range of experts in the fields of nutrition and medicine suggest the following for optimal health:

  • Decrease saturated fats and trans fats
  • Increase intake of fruits and vegetables
  • Eat more fiber
  • Substitute animal protein with plant protein
  • Increase whole grains
  • Limit sweets, desserts and sugary sodas
  • Drink alcohol in moderation or not at all
  • Reduce intake of salt
  • Control portion size
  • Exercise regularly
  • Meditate

Whether you are doing some or all of these things, you will find delicious plant based recipes, inspiration and education right here on these pages, so dive right in, and in the spirit of lifting up the universe, please provide comments when they are kind, respectful and may be helpful to others especially including me.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will be you and me. We can take pride in the changes we make each day that lead us to a healthier self. I continue on my journey of self discovery into healthfulness, and I’m pretty sure I will always be on this journey.
