JUST WHAT KIND OF WEBSITE IS THIS ANYHOW?

by | Oct 7, 2021

Supposing you have tried and failed again and again.  You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call “failure” is not the falling down, but the staying down.”-Mary Pickford

Chasing Beans is a food blog! That seems like an obvious answer to the question “Just what kind of website is this anyhow?” Nonetheless, many people have asked this or a similar question, and the answer does demand further explanation.

Chasing Beans began almost one year ago as a food blog exclusively. My Homepage says “I created Chasing Beans for YOU.  Thanks for checking in.  I believe it’s no accident that you’re here.  My greatest wish is to provide you with recipes, guidance and inspiration for a healthy (and always delicious) plant based lifestyle.”

So this must be a vegetarian or vegan food blog, a flexitarian food blog, a nutritarian food blog?

No! Although I believe that there are a set of principles that most of those who study nutrition agree on, I also believe that there is no one diet that is right for everyone. Each and every one of us has our own unique dietary needs that only we individually can discover by means of trial and error.

It’s not always easy to crack the code of what you need to be your healthiest self, and in many ways, I remain on this journey of self-discovery myself. Generally speaking for the here and now, I feel at my best when I eat an organic, whole food, plant based diet with a small amount of animal protein. Therefore, from the food blog perspective, this website represents the diet that works best for me, and I continue to hope to provide you with inspiration to find healthy and delicious foods that also allow YOU to be your best self and live the healthiest and most fulfilled life possible.

So what’s the rest of the story…

After becoming a certified chef, I began teaching others how to cook. Having had little to no skills in the kitchen before culinary school, I was delighted to have the expertise to teach people how to create food that was aesthetically beautiful and delicious. Nonetheless, after a number of years, I became much less interested in teaching students how to cook than in inspiring them to cook the most nutritious and delicious foods to meet their own body’s needs. To this end, I received a Plant Based Professional Certificate from Rouxbe, and I ultimately enrolled in The Institute For Integrative Nutrition. I graduated from IIN in the summer of 2021 becoming an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. You can learn more about IIN here.

And that gets me to the second part of “Just What Kind Of Website Is This Anyhow?”…

I am very excited to be launching my health coaching practice from this website in the very near future. I expect to offer 6 month private coaching programs as well as some group coaching programs to empower individuals to reach their health goals. And you’ll still find healthy and delicious whole food recipes right here.

Although being healthy can mean different things to different people, I believe it’s more than nutrition. It’s about self care, relationships, spirituality, career fulfillment, exercise and much, much more. I’ll help you discover what healthy means to YOU and how to get there.

We’ll cover topics such as goal setting for success, understanding and conquering cravings, stress management, self care, losing weight without dieting, increasing energy levels, finding your life’s purpose and much more…

My health coaching philosophy is that each individual has his or her own dietary and health related needs which are exclusive to that person. To find the answers, we’ll take a deep dive into where you are in your health journey and how through modest modifications, you can make meaningful change that will offer you more joy and greater fulfillment. After all isn’t that what we all want. Watch the website and social media for the announcement. In the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you know of anyone who might benefit from health coaching. I’d love to hear from you. Email me at Rebecca@ChasingBeans.com.
