    I’ve had an amazing life so far and I count my blessings every day.  Nonetheless, in my early 50’s(about the time my children were heading off to college), I began to wonder “What else is there for me in this life?”  I had a variety of interesting careers including practicing law and selling real estate, but my main “purpose in life” had been raising my children which was one of the greatest joys of my life.

    As I look back, I worked because it gave me a sense of identity apart from my family and that was important to me at the time.  However, I never truly enjoyed my work.

    I began to come to grips with the fact that my children no longer needed me the way that they once did.  My mom passed away when my children were adolescents, and at the time, my dad was healthy.  I struggled internally with the feeling of not having a purpose.

    For the next number of years, I was on a quest to discover who I really was and what I was here on earth to do.  I attended culinary school to learn to cook and after graduating, I taught cooking classes from my home.  All the while, I was reading books and taking courses on how to discover your true purpose.

    I loved teaching cooking classes but gradually I began to feel that this just wasn’t “it”.  I was teaching cooking classes to children and adults, but the classes became less and less fulfilling as I realized that although the food that I was preparing and teaching others to prepare was delicious, it was often not meeting the guidelines of what most today would call a healthy diet.

    This led me on a journey of self-reflection and discovery.

    I began reading extensively about health and nutrition.  After completing an online course on plant-based cooking for professionals at Rouxbe, I began experimenting with a vegan diet, but I learned that it just wasn’t the right fit for my “bio-individuality.”  Although I have continued to eat a whole food plant-based diet, I do now eat a small amount of animal foods which I strive to make grass-fed and organic.

    The recipes on my blog are foods that I and my family eat and enjoy.  They were created to provide my readers(YOU) with delicious food that is also healthy and nutritious.

    I have recently become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach after graduating from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.  The education that I received there, as well as my life’s journey, has led me to a new career in health coaching and wellness advocacy.  You can read more about IIN here.

    It is my belief that every person has their own bio-individual code which dictates what foods will bring them a lifetime of good health and that health is more than just the food that we eat but includes finding balance in all areas of our lives.  It is up to each one of us to find the diet and lifestyle that best provides us with optimal health.  I can help you unlock your bio-individual code and find that balance.

    My goal as a health coach and my sincerest hope is to educate and inspire you to create vibrant health and well-being for yourself NOW so that you have many, many years of happiness, fulfillment and health ahead of you.
